The print is so tiny that I could not read more than a few pages before I had to give up. If you are a fan of Ms. Braddon, as I am, please buy a different version. In the past I purchased a copy of "Jezebel's Daughter" by Wilkie Collins which had the same problem. Carefully check the details of the book and interior pages before you buy. Very disappointing. My one star rating has nothing to do with the story itself which I have not yet been able to read.Product details

I rated as I did because I felt the end was a bit rushed...as if the author lost interest and decided to wrap the story up quickly. However, it did keep me entertained to discover how everything
I love her and willie collins, I listen to them when I go to bed and I am asleep in 15 minutes.

story of sacrifice and for wrong reason.... not found out till too late.......the next generation will do better....but some do not...ah the heart and money
It is a old fashion style story. A Dickens type narrative. The characters are well developed and pull you in. Certainly as entertaining as much that s written today.
I loved it. It reminded me of one of the Bronte novels, "Shirley".
I put this one off for a while because of the dumb title. Don't let the name fool you. Full of suspense from start to finish. Some of her most evil villainy EVER. Enough characters and sub plots to make your brain want to explode! They all come together in the end of course. I really loved this story. I'd def recommend it. )
